時代變遷,包山上的平安包被不會發霉的仿真包取代。昔日老一輩會攜幼於搶包山賽事後輪候平安包,拿回家供奉祖先;現在大部分人則到餅舖買新鮮的包子食用或祭祀。但無論如何變更,平安包仍然賦予長洲居民及遊客一份貼心的平安感覺。
長洲餅店郭錦記多年來為長洲人及慕名而來的遊客製作傳統平安包。老闆郭先生原來早於十多歲開始製作平安包。提起當初做包的原因,郭老闆笑說:「當初只是跟隨老人家學師,(習俗)承傳下來,我也一直做到現在了。」有多年做包經驗的郭老闆自豪地表示,店舖每年會製作五六萬個平安包,數量相當驚人。
